Bristol indie-pop musicians Firewoodisland release new song

‘Drop Everything’ was released last month by duo Firewoodisland. With a new album on the way, the band has been successful this year, having their first single of the year ‘Sprinter’ reaching A-Listing on BBC Radio Wales.  The past year has seen the duo being featured in publications such as Atwood Magazine, PopMatters, Clash Magazine, as well as having airplay from BBC 6 music's Tom Robinson. Their single ‘Storm’ has had an impressive stream rate of 1 million plays since March 2019.

Through the years, the band has had support from Earmilk, Q Magazine, The 405 and radio time from BBC Radio 6’s Radcliffe & Maconie, BBC Radio’s Introducing In The West, BBC Radio Devon, Introducing Music From Stoke, Amazing Radio and Norway’s NRK P3. Their music has had inclusion in  Spotify’s Most Beautiful Songs in the World, Fresh Folk, Lush and Atmospheric and Lost in the Woods playlists, and ‘One With The Mountain’ was added to Norway’s New Music Fridays playlist. They have been featured in influential Youtube channels like alexrainbirdMusic, BalconyTV, Indie Folk Central, IndieVibes, La Belle Musique and Wave of Good Noise. The duo’s music has also crossed over to mainstream television soundtracks including Netflix’s Shadowhunters and the Global TV’s Nurses.

The band talks about their new single,”‘Drop Everything’ is of similar ilk to ‘Ataraxic’ in it´s meaning. It is written to remind a friend that they have people around them, but sometimes they spend too much time struggling alone and not opening up. The line "draw breath with me" in the chorus is the idea of being in a close relationship with that person, as close as breath. They have nothing to feel fearful of, support and love are around them and not judgment. "I'll drop everything" in the chorus is a reminder that they are worth so much more than the other stuff we fill our lives with.”
